Happy Halloween!

when the crypt doors creak and the tombstones quake
spooks come out for a swingin' wake
happy haunts materialize, and begin to vocalize,
Grim Grinnin' Ghosts come out to socialize

now don't close your eyes and don't try to hide
or a silly spook may sit by your side
shrouded in a daft disguise, they pretend to terrorize,
Grim Grinnin' Ghosts come out to socialize

as the moon climbs high o'er the dead oak tree
spooks come out for the midnight spree
creepy creeps with eerie eyes, start to shriek and harmonize
Grim Grinnin' Ghosts come out to socialize!

when you hear the knell of a requiem bell
wierd glows gleam where spirits dwell
restless bones eptherialize, rise as spooks of every size
(maniacle laughter)

if you would like to join our jamboree
theres a simple rule thats compulsory:
mortals pay a token fee, rest in peace, the hauntings free,
so hurry back, we would like your company!

Another review

Nice.

Especially when you consider the string of "Anglican perverts" in his family tree. But some of his notions were a bit silly. I would have helped Pitt eat the silly bunny.

Hyacinth

More one-word movie reviews (well, maybe more than one)

Side-splitting.

Meh.

Malpractice.

Snort.

Aging but passable. (Note my abhorrence of all "chic flicks")

Arbonne redux

Will any of these dates work?

Just bask in his brilliance...

"In a SPIEGEL interview, Charles Krauthammer, the leading voice of America's conservative intellectuals, discusses Barack Obama's Nobel Peace Prize, the president's failures and the state of the United Nations and the international community."

Arbonne party?

A friend of mine has offered to come and hold a makeup party for us -- more for the fun of it than anything. She is a consultant for Arbonne. The date we have tentatively selected is the 29th of November. If enough people are interested, we could make it a sort of "ladies afternoon" in Charlottesville. Wine, cheese and crackers, and spa masks all around. There would be NO pressure for anyone to buy anything.

If you think you would be interested and could make it, let me know. I would need a rough head count before I went ahead and set it up.

Caption: What the hell did you do *that* for!??!

Lovely story, very tragic. But really - what else would you assume they're saying to Dido as she lay there with a sword sticking through her chest? Heehee...sword...

Cheers!

Caption: Quick! Everyone make her comfortable!

I'm not a sacrilegious person by nature, but this picture is asking for a funny caption.

Cheers!

Claudio redeemed?

In such a circumstance, even THAT unlikely hero might prove attractive.

The Nanny of All Sequels!

I've long felt that the one thing the original really lacked was belching crows...

Things to smile about this week.

In addition to Eleanor's posts for today, here are some more things to smile about in the coming week!

Perfect design.

A new Shakespearean print. (Hubba hubba!)

The courage of martyrs.

And, Michael Buble.

St. Philip Howard

He shares the upcoming Feast of the Martyrs of England and Wales, but today is the anniversary of his death.

Things to smile about this week.

My favorite recurring feature on Genna's blog is her 'Happy Friday' post in which she lists those things currently making her smile. I thought it might be nice to appropriate that brilliant concept for the family blog, switch it to the beginning of the week (so we're not too derivative) and provide one another with things to smile about over the coming days. :)

So, herewith are the things I'm smiling about this week:

- These lounge pants from Anthropologie. (Genna! My catalog finally came!!)

- The Mother Teresa statue at the Shrine of the Immaculate Conception.

- The new Wayne Weible book. (That's my mom's yellow plate on the cover and the table is the round one from our family room!! The bread came from Farm Fresh.)

- Space Oddity by David Bowie.

- Stationery!

- Shakespeare and Modern Culture by Marjorie Garber.

- Wasa crackers.

Can't wait to hear what's making everyone else smile!

I don't know, Jani...

I think I may have discovered the ugliest shoes in the history of shoes...from Alexander McQueen's Spring 2010 collection. Talk about nightmarish! No, I wouldn't do this even for the sake of high fashion.

addendum: But these from Chloe are absolutely fabulous. This is where Genna closes her eyes and falls into a daydreaming reverie. :)

The French are expanding their haute cuisine -- much to their horror.
